EL CAMINITO DEL REY More than just a hike, this is a truly extraordinary experience!
When you see the photos of this vertiginous itinerary in the Gaitanes Gorge, you think: "Never!" but when you walk safely on the footbridges on the rock face, cross the bridge over the void, and contemplate the surrounding nature, you feel all the magic of this impressive site!
A brief history...
Formerly used by construction workers building a hydroelectric dam at the Chorro and Gaitanejo falls, it was discontinued in 1921 and even closed in 2000 because it was too dangerous. After renovation, it was reopened in March 2015 and is now safely accessible to hikers.
A guaranteed thrill!
This walk on 1m-wide footbridges over a gorge more than 700m high is spectacular. It takes around 3 hours to cover the 8km or so of this rock-side path. A bridge over the gorge and a glass floor above the void complete this unique adventure! A sensational and memorable hike!
